Chilworth Old Village is located at the west end of Chilworth and comprises of traditional thatched cottages that were once inhabited by farm workers. Alongside these historic buildings, there are modern houses and bungalows that were built in the 1950s. The Anglican Church of St Denys, situated on the outskirts of the Old Village, was reconstructed in 1812 and is famous for its ancient bells that date back to approximately 1200 AD. Chilworth Old Village has been recognized as a conservation area since 1st November 1989, with most of the 16th-century structures located within this designated area. The exceptions are Manor Farm and the Beehives, which are the lodges of the Chilworth Manor Hotel.
Chilworth is also home to the University of Southampton Science Park, which was formerly known as the Chilworth Science Park. Its construction began in 1984, and the first buildings were completed in 1986. The Science Park houses the primary satellite uplink earth station of Sky UK, previously called BSkyB, British Sky Broadcasting, and BSB, British Satellite Broadcasting. This facility transmits signals, including Sky and some third-party transmissions, to the Astra satellites at 28.2° east.
