Bursledon is a village located on the River Hamble in Hampshire and falls under the jurisdiction of the borough of Eastleigh. The village is situated near the city of Southampton and is home to several amenities, including a railway station, a marina, dockyards, and the Bursledon Windmill. The neighbouring villages of Swanwick, Hamble-le-Rice, Netley, and Sarisbury Green are all located in close proximity to Bursledon.

The village has a strong connection to the sea, with the Elephant Boatyard in Old Bursledon dating back several centuries and being known for its role in the building of Henry VIII’s fleet. Remnants of the fleet can still be found submerged in the River Hamble. Bursledon’s Jolly Sailor pub and Elephant Boatyard were the primary filming locations for the 1980s BBC TV soap opera “Howards’ Way”, giving the village a special place in British television history.
